Thursday, 12 April 2018

Are you studying for your Lab/Phonetics final exam?
Are you taking Lab/Phonetics and feel you could use some extra practice?
Are you on a Lab/Phonetics break and fear you might get rusty?
Do you need help integrating the theory into your reading?
Do less controlled tasks make you a bit anxious?
Do you feel at a loss when facing a first-sight reading activity?

Worry no further! Come to the First-Sight Reading Appointment to clear out all your doubts.

During this 40-minute session you will be given tips as to how to go about this task, you will receive feedback on your performance, and some rules will be discussed for revision purposes. You will also profit from other same level students’ feedback.

Lab 1: Wednesdays from 18:10 to 18:50
Labs 2, 3, 4: Wednesdays from 17:30 to 18:10

Don’t forget to book your appointment at the Lab!
Dear students,

As from this year, it is also possible to practise spontaneous and semi-spontaneous speech at appointments. This means that you will be able to continue getting feedback on your imitatation of prepared material and first sight reading practice, but you may also ask the teacher in charge of your appointment to work on either free-speech or guided speaking. The idea behind this is to help you transfer the knowledge acquired in the more controlled activities such as imitation to your spontaneous speech. This will aid you develop the monitor skills that are necessary for your autonomous work in other subjects and final exams. You may choose to work with role-plays, retelling of an article or other activities that you have practised in your lab lessons.

Appointments 2018

Dear students

Appointment Season 2018 is now officially open, which means you can start coming for appointments. The timetables are published in the noticeboards outside and inside the lab. They are basically the same as last year, except for minor changes. You can also consult the timetable here  or on the right-hand side column.

Remember you need your appointment booklet to make and attend appointments (read our Appointment Regulations section in this blog) and  they have to be bought at Cooperadora. Those students who still have Appointment Booklets from previous years, they are still perfectly valid.
